Berwick Area Heart Support Group
The group was established in April 2001 and it became affiliated to the British Heart Foundation in July 2001 The group consists of former heart patients. We aim to improve the quality of life for ourselves and other heart patients and their families by sharing our experiences, and improving awareness and understanding of the different heart conditions.
The group meets once a month, usually to listen to an invited guest speaker. We always finish the meeting with light refreshments and time to socialize and have a chat. The group is for people living in the North Northumberland and Eastern Borders area that have any kind of heart problem, especially for those who have had a heart attack, heart surgery or who have angina. Family and friends are often in need of support too and are made very welcome at the meeting.
Our objective
- To provide relevant information and mutual support
- To provide continuing heart health education incorporated into regular meetings
- Establish a programme of activities as requested by the group
- To be accessible to all for whom the group is appropriate
