March Our speaker for March was Anna Wood, who gave us an insight into her current position as a modern day matron at Berwick Infimary, and some of the responsibilities it involves

April Our speaker for the March meeting was Dinah Iredale, who based her talk on her recently published book entitled “Bondagers”.Put simply, a Bondager was a female agricultural worker, but it was not as simple as that

fruit and vegetables   I have been reading some recent cheery stuff, as if you needed to know, on the value of fruit and veg as well

May Jo Curtis was the speaker at our April meeting, Jo gave us a brief description and benefits of Qigong, this was followed by a short session of Qigong exercises

June Our speaker for May was Julie Holden of the Berwick Branch of the Citizens Advice Bureau.

July Our thanks to Dr Graeme Gillespie, NHS Clinical Psychologist , who was our speaker at our June meeting. Graeme has been visiting and supporting us over the years and has collaborated with Terry in putting some very useful information on our web-site on the stresses that arise from the shock, the aftermath, and ‘our on-going condition’ and has included suggestions on self-help relaxation and stress-reduction. This part of the site has always been the most visited. Each time Graeme comes to us we learn more of the practical applications of his knowledge.

August Annual walk

September Many thanks again to Dr Wooding for her return visit this August. It was good to have a well-attended meeting and again to welcome newcomers to the Group. Dr Wooding is a local GP. ‘Cardiac’ is not her own speciality – she attends more to asthma, and alcohol and other drug abuse, - but she hoped to explain how she as a GP together with the practice team is available to heart patients.

October  Phil hoped to give a brief slide-show but forgot that the Berwick Infirmary projector has a previous history of not being able to link to speakers’ laptops. There were some good 1943 photos but they could be viewed only on his laptop, not projected on the full screen.

November  Sarah’s interest in ‘Bowens’ started some years ago, initially after receiving ‘Bowens’ treatment on her own frozen shoulder which was causing her considerable problems and pain

December Our speaker for October was Karen Burn who, with her husband, family members, run a farm and holiday cottages  Karen has always enjoyed the outdoor life, and as part of her college studies on wild life, Hunting Hall proved the ideal place for her to compare the types of wildlife found in rural and suburban gardens, and also study many aspects of animal life.
